Understanding Construction Work

2 Signs That It's Maybe Time For A New Roof

It is very important to make sure that your home always has a good, solid roof on it. Otherwise, your home could suffer a lot of damage all throughout it, costing you hundreds, if not thousands to repair. Therefore, you are going to want to make sure that you are doing everything in your power to keep an eye on the condition of your roof and have new roofing put on as soon as it is needed. To help you with this, you will want to review the following two signs that it is time to call a residential roofer:

You Are Finding Granules From The Shingles In Your Gutters

You should try to make sure that your gutters are cleaned out about twice a year. This will prevent a buildup of leaves or other debris so the gutters do not become clogged. While you are cleaning out your gutters, you will want to pay special attention to the stuff that you are removing from them. You want to specifically look to see if there are any granules from the asphalt shingles on the roof. The occasional small trace amount of granules is not normally a problem. It is when you are seeing more and more of it line the bottom of your gutters that you have to worry. This is because once the granules are gone from the top of the shingles, they are more susceptible to being ripped apart in a storm, causing your roofing structure to be exposed to the elements.

You Spot Brown Spots On Your Ceilings

You want to get in the habit of occasionally looking up at the ceilings in your home, especially the ceilings that are right below the attic space. If there is a leak in the roof, the ceiling materials will begin to get wet, and this can cause discoloration. The ugly sight of the discolored ceilings is not going to be your only concern. Since water is getting into the house, mold can begin to form, and that mold can eventually spread all throughout the house, causing extreme damage and possible health hazards to everyone that lives there. Therefore, even if your roof looks fine from where you stand in the yard, if there are water spots forming anywhere in the house, you will want to call for a new roof installation.

Make sure that you are taking a little time to call around so you can get the best deal on the new roof that your home needs.
